M. W. Owen died in the house he had always resided since he went to Stowe forty years ago this month, Saturday afternoon, April 13, the date of his wife's death a year ago. Mr. Owen was a veteran of the Civil War, enlisting from Essex in Company E, Seventh Vermont Volunteers. He was mustered in with his regiment February 12, 1862 and served until it was disbanded April 7, 1866. He was a sergeant and had been promoted to lieutenant at the time of his discharge.
