Abel C. Bliss

North Adams Transcript
Sep. 13, 1894

Abel C. Bliss, at the age of sixty-three years, died at his home early Thursday morning. Mr. Bliss was born and passed his youth in Michigan. At the time of the breaking out of the civil war he enlisted, although not quite twenty-one years of age, as a nine months man and served a year. During that time, from exposure, Mr. Bliss was crippled for life.

Sixteen years ago he and his family moved to North Adams and eight years ago to Stamford. Mr. Bliss has been a patient sufferer from paralysis for nearly twenty years but his last illness came on two years ago. He passed away Thursday morning at quarter of six o'clock. He leaves a widow and five children who deeply mourn his loss, and who have the deep sympathy of their many friends and neighbors in their sad affliction.

The funeral services were held at the Baptist church, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock and the burial was in the Stamford cemetery.
