John S. Mahue died at the home of his son in Salisbury, March 1, of apoplexy at the age of 76 years. He is survived by two sons, Roy Mahue and George Mahue; and two daughters, Mrs. Julius Wimmett and Mrs. George Plue; and several grandchildren. The funeral was held at St. Mary's Church in this village Monday morning at nine o'clock, the Rev. T.J. Leonard officiating, and the burial was in the family lot in the Whiting cemetery. He was born in Canada January 31, 1840, and was the son of Bauzee and Betsey LaMorder Mahue. He was a Civil War veteran and served in Company E, 14th Vermont Volunteer Infantry.
