Benjamin Atwood,
60 Years Resident of
Long Rapids, Dies

The death of Benjamin J. Atwood, age 82 occurred at his home in Long Rapids, Tuesday afternoon after a lingering illnes.

Mr. Atwood was born in Vermont state in 1838 and had been a resident of Long Rapids for 69 years. In the early days, before the rural delivery was established, he mad a daily trip to Alpena and back to Long Rapids with mail.

He is survived by his widow and one step son, Joseph Kng of Long Rapids. The funeral will take place Thursday afternoon from the home at 1 o'clock and from the Congregational church at Long Rapids at 2 o'clock, Rev. Pierson of Long Rapids will officiate.
