David Johnston, a veteran of the Civil War died Sunday afternoon of a shock. He was born in Belfast, Ireland. Coming to this country just previous to the Civil War he enlisted in the United States Navy and saw hard service on the Neptune, North Carolina and Pohawton. He is survived by a widow and two stepsons, William Mastes of Bethel, and James Mastes of this town. Funeral services were held at the Holy Trinity Church Tuesday morning.
