Served All Through the Civil War

William Simonds, 87, a native of Northfield, Mass, a veteran of the Civil War, and a resident of Brattleboro for 50 years, is dead. Death was caused by a breaking down due to old age. Mr. Simonds was born in Northfield, Mass., in 1829. He enlisted in Co. G, 29th Massachusetts regiment in May, 1864, and re-enlisted in Co. C of the same regiment. He served throughout the Civil War, being discharged in August, 1865.
