Obituary

Death of D. C. Bent

Daniel Chipman Bent, 80 years old, died at his home in Ripton Monday morning after along illness. He leaves nine children, Norman D. Bent, Perley Bent, Roy Bent and Harrison Bent of Ripton, Morton Bent of Lincoln, Mrs. George E. Farr and Mrs. William Gee of Ripton, Mrs. Arthur Brown of Middlebury and Mrs. John Davis of Lincoln; also 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Bent was born in Ripton August 29, 1843, the son of John and Mary (Chipman) Bent. For many years Mr. Bent was engaged in the lumber business and until a few years ago he operated a lumber mill on the North branch of the Middlebury river in Ripton. Funeral services will be held at his late home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Henry C. Newell, pastor of the Congregational church at Middlebury, will officiate. Burial will be in the Cook cemetery in Ripton.
