"Peacham people are grading for a $1500 Soldiers' Monument, to be made of Blue Mountain Granite, thirty feet high, with about forty inscriptions." (Montpelier Watchman, July 7, 1869)
"The Peacham Soldiers' monument is done and is a credit to those who paid for it. It was built by subscription and the ladies now propose to raise money for a fence." (St. Albans Daily Messenger, November 6, 1869)<
