Veteran Reserve Corps (Invalid Corps)
The following are Veteran Reserve Corps organizations organized in, or known to include Vermonters. It is not a definitive list.
246th Company, 1st Battalion. Organized at St. Albans, Vt, April, 1865. Mustered out by detachments July 8 to October 3, 1865.
24th Company, 2nd Battalion. Formerly known as Company "G," 13th Regiment, Veteran Reserve Corps. Organized at Brattleboro, Vt., August 11, 1863. Designation changed September 27, 1864. Mustered out by detachments August 9 to December 1, 1865.
171st Company, 2nd Battalion. Organized at Burlington, Vt., May 19, 1864. Consolidated with 4th Company, 2nd Battalion, September 8, 1865.
A biographical sketch of Abrah Burlett, late of 1st Vermont Cavalry, indicates the 171st was under command of a Lieut. Hill.
4th Company, 2nd Battalion. Formerly known as Company "G," 10th Regiment, Veteran Reserve Corps. Designation changed August 1, 1864. Transferred to 5th Independent Company January 4, 1866.
5th Independent Company. Organized at David's Island, N.Y. Harbor, December 14, 1865, by consolidation of the enlisted men from various Regiments and Companies of the Veteran Reserve Corps. Mustered out by detachments May 15 to August 31, 1865.
